Overview
The HICS Fundamentals addresses the substance of the Hospital Incident Command System and reviews the key elements of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System 100, 200, and 700 courses in a healthcare context. The HICS Fundamentals course uses an engaging approach to training of dry content.

Certification of Completion provided for each student at the end of the course.

Audience
All hospital personnel with a role during an emergency.

Outcomes for Organization
A hospital staff with the basic knowledge of emergency management and how to manage an emergency using the standard organization structure and nomenclature. Students who attend the course are usually able to successfully take the online examinations for the FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 courses and receive a certificate.

Outcomes for Students
Allows student to use HICS to respond safely and effectively to 'all-hazards.'

Regulatory and Compliance Requirements
This course helps meet the requirements for Joint Commission Emergency Management Standards, Department of Homeland Security preparedness grants and Health and Human Services preparedness grants.
