In the US Navy, Jim served on the Radiation Safety Committee, developing and managing the Navy’s Nuclear Regulatory Commission Master Materials License. He designed and developed the Navy RADCON accident response team and participated in numerous simulated nuclear weapons incidents. He served as the senior radiological advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations and Assistant Secretary of the Navy, as well as the Secretary of Defense, for all matters involving ionizing radiation.
